States Senator John Cornyn will be the featured speaker at a lunchtime fundraiser
sponsored by the Montgomery County Republican Party on Saturday, March 31st
at the Marriott Waterway Hotel in The Woodlands. Proceeds from the event will
benefit the County Party. Texas State Attorney General Greg Abbott
will also be present to introduce the Senator. Major contributors will be
invited to attend a private reception in the hotel with Senator Cornyn and
Attorney General Abbott from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. preceding the speech and lunch.
Senator
Cornyn was first elected to the United States Senate in 2002 and previously
served as a State District Judge in Bexar County, as a Justice of the State Supreme Court
and as Attorney General. He is a 1973 graduate of Trinity University and a 1977 graduate of St. Mary’s
University School of Law. He received a Master of Law from the University of Virginia in 1995. His Committee assignments include
the Armed Services, Judiciary and Budget Committees.
Attorney General Abbott became the State’s 50th
Attorney General in 2002. Prior to 2002, he served as a State District Judge in
Harris County and as a Justice of the State Supreme Court
from 1996 to 2001. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in Austin and his law degree from Vanderbilt University in 1984.
